A banda sonora do aclamado filme “Trainspotting” (1996) foi considerada, pelo site Gigwise, a melhor banda sonora de todos os tempos.
Editada em Julho de 1996, conheceu, a par da película, um êxito imenso, o que incentivou os seus produtores a criarem uma segunda banda sonora do fime, não só com os temas do enredo que não puderam integrar a primeira banda sonora, como, também, com algumas músicas que não chegaram, sequer, a aparecer no filme, mas que, de certa forma, o inspiraram.
Popularizada em todo o mundo, a banda sonora de “Trainspotting” – da qual fazem parte músicas como Sing, dos Blur; Born Slippy, dos Underworld; Mile End, dos Pulp; ou Lust for Life, de Iggy Pop - foi também destacada pelos editores da publicação “Vanity Fair”, que a elegeram, em 2007, como a sétima melhor banda sonora da história.
