There is no Way better than another, but you must learn to find your own. Often you have to try, stumble a thousand and one times. If, as time passes, the Way of the Traveler produces in you remorse of conscious and your heart is afflicted with feeling far from your family and other loved ones, it is a sure sign that to continue would be a mistake and you must correct it. But if you are full of internal satisfaction, follow your star! It is as thrilling as a beautiful story!
Everything is on the road. Travel is magnanimous even passively, since it helps cure you from every manipulation that hinders your seeing beyond. You can use travel simply to contemplate the wonders of nature and the works of man, or to admire rapturously the exciting world of plants and animals, and even experience extraordinary adventures in remote and exotic places, meeting unusual people. But also, you can aspire to grow internally if you know where to search. If you are selective in your search and do not get distracted too much, to understand what you do in this world will be a children’s game.
The Way of the Traveler is not for everyone, and it is good to be so; Nature has situated each one in his or her place. Many begin with a sweeping fury, but few will finish happily, and among those rare few are those who assimilate their valuable teachings and incorporate them into their being. If you discover the Way of the Traveler is appropriate, I wish you from the depths of my soul all the rewards of the world that deserve your bold undertaking. But remember that not only does man live for travel, travel is only an instrument with which you will make supreme use of when you transcend it, when you extract the magic and poetry in the everyday and love everything that breathes. Beyond being a mere traveler, you will feel like a monk making a pilgrimage to his beloved temple and planet Earth, and you will travel without traveling, giving out blessings. Only then will you experience the urgent need to convey wisely, with tenderness and understanding, your knowledge acquired during your long journeys to your fellow beings with noble intentions of undertaking the fascinating Way of the Traveler. Happy travels!
Blessed be they who never travel
and they who scarcely feel any longing to get to know far away countries
- for they may enjoy a calm life and one full of delight.Blessed also are they who take short trips to far-flung parts of the planet during their holidays
- for they will derive enriching education and most enjoyable experiences.But woe to those who dare to set forth on the Route of the True Traveller!
This will not leave them with a single moment of mental peace
and it will remove them from all other worldly interests;
they will strive in vain to satisfy an insatiable craving for more travel
and they will never believe that they have travelled enough.
All that awaits these nomadic souls is a permanent restlessness
and an unceasing anxiety to learn about every corner of the earth,
about the natural history of the beings that inhabit it
and to assess the meaning of their own existence.Jorge Sanchez
